About Us
Discover the secrets of Ria Formosa
At Animaris we have created several products in the field of Nature Tourism. Since we started in 1986, our focus has been respect and conservation of the environment, especially the Deserta Island, also known as Barreta. Today is still the only uninhabited barrier island of Ria Formosa.
The Estaminé Restaurant, recognized and awarded for its gastronomic quality and energy efficiency, is the only structure on the Island. Open every day of the year, with panoramic views of the Natural Park and the Atlantic Ocean, we specialize in the fresh products of the ocean and the Ria, such as fish and seafood.
We also manage the beach concession on the Island, with support services such as sun shades and sunbeds, and a team of lifeguards during bathing season (June to September).
Our fleet, for transportation and tours, is composed of boats of different types (semi-rigid, speedboats and catamarans), with capacities between 10 to 200 passengers.
Our multilingual team is experienced in guided tours, personalized experiences for families, business groups, school groups, tourists and residents.

Our Fleet
Our boat fleet departs every day, all year round, from Faro (Porta Nova Pier), along the channels of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, towards Deserta Island, for more than 30 years. We have different types of boats, suitable for several sizes of groups, and prepared for the different weather conditions we can find all year round.
Our fleet has all the navigation and safety equipment complying with coast guard regulations, insurance and conditions required by law.
Jamanta
One of the biggest Catamarans in the Algarve
Jamanta is a modern, luxury 2-story Catamaran designed specifically for tours along the Ria Formosa channels. With the capacity to transport 200 passengers, our Catamaran is equipped with 2 bars and sound system.
Designed for groups, to host live music shows, weddings, team building, celebrations and other events. Departures from Olhão or Faro, for tours along the Ria Formosa channels and islands.

Praia das Conchas
Our Ferry - Direct transportation from Faro to Ilha Deserta
Our Ferry Boat is a Catamaran who’s name "Praia das Conchas" means “beach of shells”, a name for the Deserta beach is also called, being popular for its beautiful shells. This is a very stable and secure Catamaran, with a cabin area for 36 passengers, and an outside covered deck for 60 passengers. Equipped with sound system and wireless microphone. Operating every day, all year round.

RIB's - Speedboats
Island Shuttle - A unique Travel experience
We have multiple semi-rigids and speedboats (RIB - Rigid Inflatable Boat) with capacity between 8 and 26 passengers.
Ideal for a quick transportation to the Island (15 minutes), for example to have lunch at Estaminé restaurant. We call this transportation the “Island Shuttle”, and we also have a cabin speedboat, for extra comfort during winter time.
Available on a regular daily schedule, and for private tours and private transportation. Enquire us to know more.

Sultana
Designed for Ria Formosa Nature Tours
Sultana is a 30 passenger Catamaran that offers 360-degree views, best suitable for nature tours along Ria Formosa. A tour on this Catamaran allows you to get close to nature without disturbing it.
With comfortable seating and exterior deck space, it is ideal for families and small groups.
